Meet our team

Alex Sheppard

Executive Director

Serial entrepreneur and innovator with a decade’s founder and executive experience bringing technology innovation to life from earliest idea to commercial execution and scale. Having graduated from Wadham College, University of Oxford in 2013, reading Literae Humaniores, he spent the first 5 years of his career as CEO of two IP-rich deeptech university spinouts at the same time, raising VC finance and UK government grants while building scientific research teams from scratch to execute and complete complex commercial-ready technology projects in laser optics, microscopy, molecular diagnostics and 3D printing. He then joined Entrepreneurs First as an EiR and co-founded a medical diagnostics company focused on a novel immunoassay platform, running an international multidisciplinary team, raising capital and bringing a medical device from patent to regulatory approval in just 9 months (4x faster than market rate). Driven to deliver global-scale transformation through technology, taking raw ideas from purest inception to delivery to improve lives, educate, heal and fuel new discoveries.
